Administrative HistoryThe Manor of Henbury with Henbury Hall and other estates belonged to the Davenport family of Henbury until it passed by marriage to Sir Fulk Lucy, son of Sir Thomas Lucy of Charlecote, Warwickshire, in c1656. His son George sold the estate to Sir William Meredith in 1693. His grandson, also Sir William Meredith sold the estate to John Bower Jodrell in 1779. The estate was again sold in 1835 to John Ryle of Macclesfield, M.P On his bankruptcy in 1842 it was sold to Thomas Marsland. After the death of his son, the estate was sold in 1875 to Thomas Unett Brocklehurst of the Fence.
